Several things need to be considered for a successful project. Looking at current resources and what people think may be lacking with them. Identifying the types of tutorials that people typically seek out / are in demand. Focusing in on the demographic.
User experience and motivation to use the website are priority. Seeking to foster a supportive community that engages with the content will be important as well
Making sure that the quality of the resources available is high will be important. Care will need to be taken as not to infringe on any copywritten resources. Keeping the content updated and relevant to the community after the project is complete needs to be considered.
This could be a super helpful resource that can help artists improve their skills and lead to better job opportunities. Creates a community that can collaborate and build each other up. Potential for revenue stream through things like ads and donations.
Consider adding something like badges with CodeAcademy to keep people interested. Can include things like forums, Q&A sessions with experts and user generated content in the form of plugins and asset libraries. Potential to partner with other companies for promotions.
Need to start gathering resources and getting more opinions from people I think may use the website. How to advertise to artists looking for resources will be difficult if site isn't polished.
I was initially worried about how (un)successful the project may be but after talking through each "hat" I think it could be a really interesting project that could be useful to a lot of people. Continuing to maintain the project afterwards would be the greatest challenge, but something like this doesn't exist quite yet in this format and with several additions I hadn't thought about it could be really neat. It's definitely more work than I had initially planned out but I believe it has real potential.
